Sorry I haven’t been posting. I’ve got a fresh rider patrolling the streets. Im helping this guy train for his triathlon season as I am putting on miles to ride a good strong century season. My big thing is staying away from injury this year so i can spend more time in the saddle. I’ll be commuting a lot. I am riding strong right now. Chris, however is a competitor new to cycling. He does monster runs and has developed a good tri swimming technique. He has fairly good nutritional habits and also hits the gym. Now we got him on a bike. Let’s see how he adapts and how far this goes.
Finally got the set-up on the new bike to a point I truly like. I’ve already smoked the tires. I’m gonna have to get a pic of the tire smoke to share with you all. The build is working out well. Very aggressive fixie. You can’t see me now, but I’m cheezin’ .
This is the only clip i have from the Bike Party. Way to go guys…. it was a good time.
Ima see you there.
This is how i spent my holiday. Actually, this was one of the few moments when i wasn’t running around a million places or stuffing my face with food. Good Times.
A car decided to teach me a lesson.
Some asshole sent my boy here through a rearview window today. You told me your story and it ain’t right, man. Thats just messed up. I guess it just sucks that someone has to play the victim of an ignorant asshole. Our prayers and thoughts of healing are with you buddy.
for those of you who dont know. This dude is is the face of http://southernvelo.org/ and he is tough as nails.

Good Things to Come
I just got a conformation e-mail letting me know a track racing frame is being sent to me in the mail. This is a final departure for me… away from the trick scene. I cant keep up with the learning curve or risk factor involved with heavy hitting freestyle antics. There was a while where i had my Bridgestone converted into a pretty aggressive fixie and i fell in love with spinning on it. Im refining that direction in a big way with this frame. Its not going to be versatile enough for polo abuse either. It will, however, bring me closer to being a pedal-powered Japanese bullet train. I will post it in 7-10 days. LEVEL UP!
Just built this up yesterday and got hit durring my test ride. Surprisingly the bike seems okay. Its got a few scuffs, broke a pedal and had to re-tension the rear wheel. I put it together from parts i already had around. Lucked out to have a ratio that worked on this frame’s vertical dropouts. I miss my steel fixie, but in my situation this should work out just fine.
thanx for the concerns everybody.
Really, im okay. I walked away from it all (albeit wit a limp, lol) so id say its all good. First time in all these years of riding to be hit, and i was riding so mellow yesterday too. Helmet saved my life again. Ill need to replace it now, but it did its job and im grateful for that. I’m gonna sit this one out today and heal a bit, cuddle an ice pack or two, and give thanks to my ongoing survival: but u all know im quick to be back up and going again. so ill see you all out there soon…. and thats a promise.
Sneak peek at my latest project. Yeah, thats what you think it is. :)
This bike gets me going. Man, if I was still living on the plains of the midwest i’d probably have something close to this instead of my current mountain-road friendly rides. Drop bar w/ cross levers and some light blue fizik tape…… mmmm… ….mmmm… . ..mmmmm……….
I dont usually post fixed freestyle videos, but i really feel like Michael Chacon demonstrates a blend of this ever evolving sport that consists of tricks that got it started and big bangers of where its going. Im loving the multiple barspins, keos in lines, big air-spins, and clever gaps.
Commuter’s Corner ~ “Packin’ “
*Pack Light : Pack Smart - dont carry ANYTHING that you dont need. You also dont want to forget something that you will need. Plan it out, and then stick to the plan until it forms into daily habits. I have A LOT of injuries from the past that I still feel, pretty much all the time. I am always keeping that in mind when loading and adjusting my bag. If you have neck, back, or shoulder problems, i recommend a “pack” style bag with two shoulder straps. If it’s clearly access your looking for from your bag, a messenger “sling” bag will allow you to access your cargo by sliding it around to the front in a hurry; even while riding. Modern messenger bag companies make an array of weatherproof bags with cycling specific fits to the wearer. I use a Chrome Bags rolltop, and i basically live out of it. It has plenty of space and keeps my clothes and electronics nice and dry. Its simpler than panniers, but makes it more important to pack light so you dont strain yourself. If your workplace is okay with you keeping a pair of work shoes there then by all means do that. shoes can be uncomfortable in a bag and most shoes we work in aren’t all that light.
